Got My Truck Back!!! YAY!!!
After two and a half very long weeks without my truck, we finally got it back last night! I was so excited and decided that Lauryn and I were going to have to get out, get lunch and so some shopping! We went to Big Boy for lunch, our first sit down meal with just the two of us, and it went really well. She sat in the booth next to me (in a booster seat) and we colored and talked to an older woman who was sitting across from us. Towards the end of lunch, Lauryn gagged a little on her food and a minute later she threw up all over the place! Poor girl! She started crying and putting her head on my shoulder. I was trying to console her and clean up the mess. We had the best waitress! She came right over and brought tons of napkins and wet naps and kept asking if there was anything she could do. As we were leaving, Lauryn seemed to be feeling fine so we stopped in to the dollar store right behind the restaurant. At first I wasn’t sure if that was a good idea but since she was feeling good and none of the mess got on either of us, I figured we’d give it a try. We picked up a few things and then went to Wal-Mart. By then, Lauryn was definitely feel well because she was talking up a storm, to me and everyone we passed, so we picked up a few things there as well. I got her her first tricycle. It’s a pink and purple Radio Flyer and it’s adorable! She’s been trying to ride it since we got home. Other than the minor incident at the Big Boy’s, we had a nice day and it felt great having my truck back!
Play Date :)
Today, Lauryn and I met up with a few of the Michigan Moms for a play date. It was at a really nice park in Grand Rapids. We got there a little late because I couldn’t find it at first. A Garmin GPS would have been handy today
Once we got there, we ate lunch and then Lauryn played. I have such a hard time just watching her go off and run around with the other kids. Not because I don’t trust the kids, it’s that she’s a little daredevil and I am afraid if I’m not right there, she’s going to get hurt. I tried to give her a little space but it didn’t last long
Here are a few pictures from today:

Shots Again???
Later today, Lauryn has her 18 month check up and unfortunately, this is another one with shots. My poor girl! I feel bad for her already! I think these are the last ones for a while though, which will be great! I am excited to see how much she’s grown since the last appointment and to tell the doctor all of the new things she’s been learning. She’s used her potty three times now and each time it’s been her idea. She’s also learning to count
I’m so proud of her!
And now for a random ramble
I recently received an e-mail about something called thermogenic fat burners. I have never heard of it before so I checked it out. First off, how do these people know I am trying to lose weight?
And second, if they ever read my blog they would know I am not interested in taking pills.
Okay, I couldn’t help myself there. Seriously, if these things work for other people, more power to them but they just aren’t for me.
Cleaning, Cleaning….
I don’t know how one baby can make such a mess in every room she goes in! Every night, I go into her room and fold up the extra blankets that she uses for capes and re-stack her books, go into the living room and find phones, more books, dolls, puzzle pieces, her dump truck that had all those toys in it and her refrigerator magnets (which never actually stay on the fridge), THEN I go into the kitchen where I find another blanket, more toys, a bear and her shoes. After all of that you would think there wouldn’t be anything left for her to leave in the dining room but oh yes, there is! I do this twice a day. Once in the afternoon, before Lloyd gets home so he can come home to a clean house and then once again after Lauryn is in bed. Everyday I am amazed at how much stuff is all over this house and that it’s that tiny little person who’s behind it all
Ah, motherhood
So far, Lloyd’s first week – even though it’s only half way through – has been pretty darn productive. He said he finally has almost all of his files and things organized and put away and he has three closing set for Friday…Go Lloyd! I’m not sure if he has his business insurance taken care of yet but the phones and the internet have been up and running since Monday. I think the two agents working for him are pretty pleased with how quickly he’s gotten everything taken care of.
Lauryn has another appointment for a shot tomorrow. It’s for her H1N1 booster. I’m glad it’s just the one shot because she can handle that so much better than when there’s a couple of them. Last time, she cried for a minute, gave me a hug and then as we were walking out she got all excited seeing the “Wall of Babies” by the nurses station. I made the appointment in the afternoon so when we’re done we can swing into Lloyd’s office and see how it all looks when there aren’t desk pieces everywhere
I’m hoping she might doze off on the way home. That might help her not be fussy tomorrow evening.
Poor Girl
Lauryn is starting to get her molars in….I think this may be harder for her than any of her other teeth. She’s been waking up crying in the middle of the night and it’s just the saddest little cry…it just breaks my heart. Luckily, a little love from her mama seems to be all she needs
It will be so nice when all of her teeth are in. My poor girl.
Over the weekend, Lauryn and I went to visit Lloyd at his new office. I knew the building but hadn’t seen his office before. It’s so nice. He has a great view of the river and when spring comes around it will all look so pretty! He’s been spending a lot of extra time there, trying to get the desks put together and get all his files and everything organized. Lauryn and I are going to stop back in on Thursday and see how it all looks. She has an appointment and her doctor’s office is just around the corner from Lloyd’s office.
I am so loving my new contacts! I hadn’t had any in a while and I missed having them! I have a new doctor too and he’s really nice. When I went for my last check-up, I noticed he had one of those promotional calenders on his wall. I saw that it was a real estate one and there was an older woman on it. I asked him if that was his mother and he said it was. We talked a little bit about Lloyd opening up his new office and he was telling me his mom was about to retire. Anyway, I came home and told Lloyd about it and asked if he knew that realtor and he said that she was the woman who sold him his very first house…small world!
She’s Getting So Darn Big!
I can’t believe all of the things that Lauryn can do! She says so many words now like please (peez!), up, NO, thank you (tak-en), Grandpa (bumpa), good girl, juice, cheese, hello (a-lo)….the list gets bigger by the day! It seems like it was just yesterday that we were celebrating her first roll onto her back and now she’s running all over the house. It’s amazing how fast she learns and she loves her books! Not a day goes by that she doesn’t go in to her room to get a book to bring to me to read to her and every night she picks three or four to read before bed. She’s slowly getting into different foods. She’s still not very big on meat but she’s trying more things now. Every now and then I will get this phantom feeling in my tummy and it reminds me that it was only 15 months ago that she was still in there kicking the crap out of me! I should have known then that she was going to be really active
I went to get the mail today and there was something in there about term life insurance quotes. We have life insurance but I might have Lloyd check it out because I think the quotes may be better than what we have now. I always make sure he’s sees those things because he knows more about our policies than I do and he knows when it really is a better deal.
Lloyd had his last official day with his old company today and tomorrow starts the beginning of his new one. He’s been there on and off for a few days now but tomorrow the phones and internet will be on and the new desks will be delivered. Maybe once everything gets going, he can start breathing again! He’s been nervous but I know this is what’s best for him and for us. It’s what he’s always wanted and he has the drive and the ambition to make it successful! Congratulations again Babe!!! I’m so proud of you!!!
No More Baba’s
This week we finally eliminated the bottle
Yay!!! I thought Lauryn would have a much harder time with it than she has so far. She was all about having a baba before bed time and she seems to be doing quite well without it. No more baba’s….Yay!!! She’s been drinking from sippy cups for a while but still wanted that baba in the evening. We still need to work on drinking from a regular cup, she just doesn’t have it down yet but we’re getting there too!
Here’s a picture I took the night Lloyd came back from his snowmobiling trip:
She was so happy her daddy was home! I don’t think I’ve ever seen her smile quite like that and she stayed that way for hours!!! So precious!
Ever since I got Lauryn that personalized jewelry box for Christmas, I’ve been checking out other ideas I can give for other occasions and for other people. I just love the idea of giving a personalized gift. I feel like the blankets I crochet are somewhat personalized but they take so long and sometimes my hands aren’t up to getting them done in time to give and there are a ton of really neat gifts out there. Lloyd’s birthday is coming up in March and I’m trying to figure out something for him….we’ll have to see what I can come up with
Fun Day
Today Lauryn and I met up with some friends at Center Pointe Mall in Grand Rapids for a play date. I hadn’t taken her there before and after watching the other kids for a while and after I took her shoes off
she finally decided to check things out and play a little. I think she had fun. It was nice just to get out and do something! We’ve had such cold weather and so much snow lately that other than running to the grocery store, we’ve been pretty cooped up! On our way home I called Lloyd and asked if he was in the office. He was so we stopped in for a little visit. His secretary, Wendy, really like that and it was nice to see her too! She’s such a sweetie!
For the past few years, I’ve been using the same kind of make-up and I really love it. I have these really dark circles under my eyes and it has always covered them up wonderfully. Well I don’t know if it’s motherhood or what but they seem to be getting worse and the make-up is not cutting it anymore. I look way more tired than I am and that’s never a good thing. I have been asking around, trying to find out what’s the best eye cream for that and I think might have to go out and buy some. Getting older sure isn’t fun!
Keeping It Up
Another good day for losing weight! I had a bowl of grapes for breakfast, which for me is fantastic because I can eat tacos for breakfast
, a salad for lunch and then a small portion of baked chicken and linguine with oil and garlic for dinner. I’ve been working out on the ellipticals twice a day for about 15-20 minutes each time. I used to do 45 minutes without breaking a sweat but it’s been a long time…I have to work back up to it.
The best thing happened today. I was getting Lauryn’s lunch ready and I said, “I love you” and then she said, “I la oo” back! I, of course, instantly teared up! It was the sweetest thing! She totally melts me!!!
