A Warmer New Year?
I heard on the news earlier that it could get up to 47 degrees by the end of the week! That’s Michigan for ya! I wouldn’t mind a warmer New Years one bit!
I am very much enjoying my new netbook! I’m still adjusting to the smaller keyboard but other than that, I’ve gotten pretty used to it. Other than having a nasty headache on Christmas day, the holidays weren’t too bad
For New Year’s Eve, Lloyd usually goes to his parents for their annual euchre tournaments while my mom, Lauryn and I will be ringing in the new year here. We usually just make a few snacks and have some punch, watch the ball drop and hang out. We’re going to rent a few movies that we’ve been wanting to watch. I’ve never been big on partying and waking up the first day of the new year feeling awful. I like the way we do it
I was looking at phones recently and can’t believe how many things you can do on the iphones now. The apps that are available these days are something else. They aren’t kidding when they say, “There’s an app for that!”
There seems to be an app for everything!
Almost Done!
I don’t mean to go on and on about the holidays but this year it seems like it’s taking forever for them to get over with. I do enjoy them but between writing out a million cards, shopping in crowded stores and going to a ton of Christmas parties, it just gets to be too much. It feels like we’ve lost the true meaning of Christmas. Just a couple more days and it will be all done!
I am very excited about one gift we’re giving this year. We found some romeo y julieta cigars for a friend of ours. He’s going to love them.
Woo Hoo!!!!
My husband is AWESOME!!! I’ve been wanting a Netbook for the longest time and he got me one for Christmas! He even let me open it early
I am so excited! I can’t wait to get all of my recipes on it so they can finally all be in one place. It’s also a lot nicer to be able to get online whenever I want. Our desktop is in the office, which is in the back of the house and right by the basement stairs. I only go back there when Lauryn is sleeping because I’m afraid she’ll decide to take a check out those stairs and since theirs 17 of them and she’s not super stable when it comes to steps, I don’t want to chance any accidents.
I mentioned in a previous post that I’d like to get some new outdoor furniture. I think I may have found the place! There’s a little shop here in town and I’ve seen that they have all kinds of handmade wooden cabin furniture and swings and stuff. I would love to have some nice wooden lawn chairs. I’m sure it’s not going to be as cheap as it would be if I went somewhere else but I really love handmade furniture. I’ll have to get Lloyd to go with me one of these days so we can check it out.
All I Want For Christmas…
…are some everlon diamonds!
I have fallen in love with the everlon knot ring and bracelet. They are beautiful! I think I drool a little when I see the commercials
Speaking of Christmas, I have my shopping for Lloyd done but we haven’t started shopping for anyone else yet. I am working on a couple of handmade gifts for a couple of people but there is still a lot of shopping to be done. Hopefully we can get it all taken care of this weekend. As much as I love the holidays, I’m also ready to get them over with. It can all get a little overwhelming at times. So many Christmas parties, writing a million cards until my hand cramps up and then there’s the shopping. I am not the typical woman shopper. I’m the get in, get what I need and get out type of shopper and with all the crowds at Christmas time, that is never the way it goes. Less than two weeks and it will all be over with!
Winter….YUCK!
Today we got our first really nasty snow. Fortunately I didn’t need to go out in it. It’s supposed to get worse through the night and Lauryn is supposed to have a doctor appointment in the afternoon but if the roads are decent, I’m going to reschedule. It’s just not worth risking getting stuck in a ditch or worse, just to get her to Grand Rapids to get a booster shot. I’m sure if we do reschedule, Lauryn will be thanking me
This weather is also murder on my skin! I need to check out some good face moisturizers the next time I go to the store. Actually, a good all over moisturizer would be perfect. Have I mentioned that I’m ready for winter to be over yet?
Friday Fill-Ins *late*
This week, I’m going to give you a choice of fill-ins OR a different kind of fill-in (or both). A friend emailed me a list where you have to identify Christmas songs by the initials of the first words of the first line of each song. Each Friday until Christmas Eve I’ll post 9 more of these songs and if you’d like to play along, great!
So…here we go!
1. I wish for everyone to have happy and safe holidays.
2. Mint chocolate cocoa…that’s what I’m thinking.
3. Please bring me some samsung lcd televisions – more than one would be great since both of our tv’s are old and crapping out.
4. My family is so amazing.
5. One of my fondest hopes are that my daughter grows up to be a strong independent woman, who respects herself and others.
6. My husband is awesome and I just wanted to say thank you.
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to visit with mom, make yummy stuffed french toast with fried potatoes for dinner and taking her to check out her new house, tomorrow my plans include a little cleaning, playing with my girl and making some Catalina chicken and Sunday, I want to relax with Lloyd and Lauryn!
Been Awhile
Here I go again! Taking way too long to update this! With the holidays right around the corner, I have a feeling that I might not be able to as much as I’d like!
We had our first Christmas party last Sunday. It was with Lloyd’s mom’s side of the family. It was a really nice turnout. I think they counted 104 people there. Santa even came and had gifts for all of the kids. Lauryn so did not like Santa in person. She likes him as decorations and on t.v. but in person, not so much
I was able to get the tree up a little earlier than usual this year. I think it looks terrific. Now I just have to figure out where I’m going to put all of my breakable decorations! There are two year old, curious little hands here and I don’t have enough high places to put everything on, so most of the knick knacks will probably have to get packed back up
A friend of mine was just telling me about allergy issues in the winter. I never even thought about someone having allergies in the winter before. For me, when I think about them, it’s spring and summer weather I think about. She said she has talked to allergy doctor austin and hopefully they will be able to get her issues under control.
