Sunglasses Case

Recently, my aunt asked me if I could make her a case for her sunglasses.  She said to match her purse and wallet, different shades of pink and magenta would work.  She seemed to really like the finished product.  Here it is:

Crafts

I’ve been getting back into crocheting again.  I go through phases with it.  For months, I’ll go non-stop, making blankets, hats, all kinds of things.  Then I’ll need a break for a month or so.  I’m back on again :)   I just finished a sunglasses case for my aunt, which I completely forgot to take a picture of, and now I’m starting on a blanket.  I’ve also been thinking about getting back into jewelry.  It’s been quite a while since I’ve made any and Kathye was here recently talking about how we should make some together and I think that was enough to me wanting to do that again :)   I’ve been thinking about trying to sell my crafts again.  I’ve tried selling online before, on one of the more popular selling sites, and didn’t have a lot of luck because people want to pay pennies for homemade things and I cannot put that many hours into something, like a blanket, and sell if for that cheap.  Maybe I should give craft shows a whirl.  There, people know the time it takes to make some things and expect to pay a reasonable price.  The last one I went to, there was a woman who’d made it quite the business for herself.  She even had a epson receipt printer to give people receipts for their purchases.  I was pretty impressed with her and would love if I could make some decent money selling my items.

T13

This is a meme I haven’t done before but it looks like fun.  Click on the picture above to locate the meme :)

I’m going to share 13 things on my mind right now:

1.  I need to weed the garden.

2.  I need more coffee!

3.  I’m glad Lauryn’s taking a nap :)

4.  Should I make spaghetti and meatballs for dinner?

5.  I’m looking forward to having my BFF and her kids over for lunch tomorrow :)

6.  I’ve noticed there are a lot of online ads for acnebodywash.net :P

7.  I need to learn how to bring my geraniums back to life!

8.  The elliptical seems to be calling my name and so far, I’m ignoring it!

9.  I wonder if Lloyd is having a good day.

10.  I REALLY need to repaint my toe nails!

11.  I wonder when the shoes I ordered for Kathye are going to show up?

12.  I’m glad the weather is cooler today…the humidity can be miserable!

13.  I think Lauryn and I might go to the park today :)

14.  It was great seeing my step sister and her kids yesterday…we need to get together more often!

15.  I’m realizing that I seriously have nothing insightful going on in my head right now LOL :)

3x Thursday

Go HERE to find the 3x Thursday meme :)

1. Are you a morning person or a night owl? How so?
A little bit of both these days. I’ve been getting up really early to take long walks with my dog but I also have some nights that I stay up late, researching stuff like how to take care of my flowers and looking for cheap insurance companies.
2. Ice cream! Vanilla or chocolate? Why?  Vanilla…It’s classic :)

3. Soda or water? Why? Water, I don’t drink much pop at all these days.

Halloween

I was just reading a friend’s blog and she mentioned dressing up for Halloween and having a mom’s party.  I think that would be a blast!  I haven’t dressed up in years and would love to do it again!  I hope she decides to have the party.  I have no clue what I’d dress up as, I’m definitely not into the sexy costumes, but I’m sure I’d find something as there is plenty of time to figure it out!

Weight Loss

So last week, I started getting up really early and taking Cloz’r for long walks.  It has felt really good to get out and get a little exercise and I know Cloz’r loves it!  On the days where the weather hasn’t been great, I get on the elliptical instead.  At first I was really sore but I’m just feeling great!  I’ve lost a couple of pounds, I’m getting a little more “me” time in the day and I’m sleeping better at night.  I want to add some more options instead of just doing the elliptical so I’m going to look into some different fitness equipment.  Who knew this would be so exciting? :)

What To Do?

It’s Thursday, I have nothing planned….what should I do?  It’s supposed to be nicer today than it has been, not as humid, so maybe I’ll take a walk to the park with Lauryn.  I know she’d like that :)

My garden seems to be doing well.  The melon and cucumber plants are thriving and I’ve already been using the cilantro, dill and oregano.  The strawberries are another story though.  Something has eaten all of the berries!  There have been bunnies hanging around so I’m pretty sure they are the culprits.  Oh well. My petunias, balloon flowers and English daisy’s are all doing really well but my geranium hanging basket has hardly any flowers on it.  I’m not sure what happened there.  My neighbor has hydroponic systems set up for his plants every year and his flowers are always the most beautiful on the block.  Maybe I should get some advice from him on how to bring back the geraniums!

Thursday Thunks: Welcome to Summertime 2010!

The TT questions are brought to you by Bud, the color of Atlantic Ocean and the number 3.

1. It became officially summer on Monday. What’s your favorite part of winter? When it’s over!

2. What was your worst summer vacation ever? There was one year that Lloyd and I went camping with his family and that was fun but driving home in my 89′ VW Rabbit that had to have the heat on in 90+ degree weather with no radio really sucked!!!

3. Kimber’s husband just got the dream job that he’s hoped for. So a big shout out to her and Anthony! Tell us about the best job that you ever had.
Honestly, the job I do now,  being a stay-at-home mom is the best job I’ve ever had :)
4. Who is probably talking a load of crap about you right now?
I can’t think of anyone.
5. An alien appears and offers you the opportunity to repeat one year of your life. You will still know everything that you know now. He explains that no matter what you do differently, when you are returned to the present nothing will have changed. What year would you pick and why?
If nothing changes in the end, why redo anything?
6. Name three things you have on you at all times. Explain why.
Wedding rings – I RARELY take them off, Cell phone – that one pretty obvious :) and vitacost coupons – I keep them in bag because you never know when you can catch a great deal on vitamins :)

7. When was the last time you wrote a letter to someone on paper and mailed it?
Just a few weeks ago.
8. If you could have everyone in the blogosphere read just one of your posts, which post would you pick and why?
Hmmm….the strawberry dessert recipe I posted.  The world would be a much happier place if everyone had a chance to eat that :)   It’s that good!
9. I recently read that the music industry continues to decline at an alarming rate. In the last year it said the sales of Michael Jackson’s and The Beatles’ music are the only artists who sales continue to climb. The article stated that the two are holding up the industry. Have you bought a CD or mp3 of either artist recently? I think I bought an MJ mp3 song for my mom recently.

10. What radio ad right now do you find so annoying that you’d rather have a tooth drilled than hear it again? I don’t listen the radio much anymore so I have no idea what ads are playing.

11. Berleen walks into a bar on a hot Minnesota day. At the bar sits a priest, a rabbi and a minister. A ten foot duck walks into the bar right after Berleen. What drink do you think Berleen orders?
Captain and coke….it’s what I’d order :)
12. There is a knock on your door. It can be anyone in the world. Who would you want it to be?
Cary :)
13. What would be the worst entertainment or sporting that you could be forced to watch?

Ugh, soccer or basketball.  With soccer, all I can hear is those stupid humming things and with basketball, it’s the squeaking of their shoes that I can’t drown out!

Weekend In Review

Weekend In Review

You can find this wonderful meme at:

Friday~Cleaned house, my stopped over but was unable to stay for dinner because she had to work on Saturday, Kathye visited, weeded the garden, had dinner and relaxed with Lloyd and Lauryn.  I spent a little time in the evening looking up different crafty ways to make birth announcements.  I’m crafty in the crochet and jewelry making sense but when ever I see homemade cards and announcements, I don’t feel creative enough to make them look as good as other people do.  I guess I’d just have to start practicing :)

Saturday~Lauryn stayed home with Lloyd so I could do a little shopping.  I picked up a few things for Sunday’s dinner and Lloyd’s Father’s day gift :)   Weeded the flowers and swept the patio, then got some of the food ready for Sunday.

Sunday~Happy Father’s Day, Lloyd!  Lauryn got her daddy a garden dump wagon and a horseshoe pick up hook :)   He was very pleased about them both :)   We got ready, I finished preparing a few more things for dinner while Lloyd put his new “toy” together and then his parents and brother came over.  We had a very nice visit.  Lloyd and his brother played tons of horseshoes and dinner and dessert was very yummy…if I say so myself :)   After they left, we spent the evening relaxing and playing with Lauryn.
