Today Was Nice

After a pretty long night with my teething baby girl, this morning we both got to take a good nap.  She had a much better day today, which means her mama had a much better day :)

Ran a few errands with my mom and then did a TON of grocery shopping.  We are stocked up for a while!  I so love to see my fridge, freezer and cupboards nice and full!  There was some creepy guy at the store though.  Long story, but half the time I was there, he was totally creeping me out!

When we got back, we gave Lauryn her dinner then we had some roast, potatoes and carrots that had been in my crock pot for about 10 hours.  It was so good and so tender!  I think I’m going to use the leftovers to make shredded beef tacos for dinner tomorrow.  Just can’t get enough tacos!  Mom visited for a few hours after dinner and then once Lauryn was in bed, which she did not put up a fight about :) , Lloyd and I actually had some time to just sit and talk like we used to do.  It was nice!

And…here we go!

1. It’s time for me to make some more coffee.

2. Belding; it’s not a bad place for raising your kids.

3. I must be a little sleepy if I’m already thinking about making more coffee!

4. My husband is the best thing I have ever known.

5. My roast in the crock pot is simply smelling wonderful.

6. The last time I laughed really loudly was yesterday.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to a yummy dinner with my family, tomorrow my plans include hopefully some quality time with Lloyd and Sunday, I want to maybe get my hair highlighted!

Cari, Cari Quite Contrary

How does your garden grow?  It’s doing pretty darn well!  My tomato plants are full of tomatoes, mostly still green but I do have a red one!  The green peppers have flowered and are starting to grow little tiny peppers, the onions seem to be doing well, the cucumber is totally a lost cause and the mystery plants are flowering.  We think they might be squash.

Lots and lots of cleaning needs to be done today.  Besides the usual Thursday cleaning (the fridge, the litter…), I’ve been cleaning Lauryn’s closet.  Every where we go, someone is giving her something and it ends up just going in her closet.  I’ve been sorting through the clothes that don’t fit her any more and organizing everything.  I’ve already vacuumed today because shedding dog + crawling baby = hairy baby and I can’t let that happen!  The laundry is actually caught up for once so I don’t need to worry about that but once the fridge gets cleaned out there will be plenty of dishes.  Gotta love Thursdays!

Thursday Thunks

Welcome to the July 30th version of Thursday Thunks!
(which we always seem to post on Wednesday)
Where we make you think a little bit before you blog!
This week we will answer some crazy questions brought to you by
Kimber, the number 14 and the color of life. (2 questions by Ber, figure out which 2.)

1. You are in an enclosed space with a group of friends. Elevator, auto, small room, etc.. You fart and it really stinks. Do you take credit for it or do you play along with the questioning of who did it?

I probably would point at the person next to me and make everyone think it was that person :P

2. You are locked in a room sitting at a desk with just a piece of paper and a purple crayon. What do you draw?

Grapes?
3. Do you ever pee in the shower?

I’m not going to lie…I have.

4. Have you bought, sold or got rid of something on Craigslist?

I haven’t but my husband has.

5. You are in a convenience store. In the line in front of you is a drunk guy trying to purchase more alcohol. The cashier tells him they cannot sell it to him because he is obviously already intoxicated. He gets belligerent. The cashier is scared. What do you do?

Maybe go find a manager.

6. While shopping for produce, do you “sample” before you buy (i.e. grapes)?

I mostly buy melons.  I don’t know how I’d go about sampling a watermelon before I bought it :)

7. You are walking down the street and there is a toddler sitting on a bench by themselves in front of a store – do you just keep walking?

No, I ask him where his parents are.  I wait with him and if no one comes we go find a phone to call the police.

8. Have you looked up an old friend and/or lover online?

Yes.

9. You are nearly in a car/auto accident. Do you freak out, follow the person who nearly caused it & talk to them or just keep going?

I have a small heart attack, and as I’ve mentioned in a different meme, I would flip them the bird and say a few nasty words but I would not follow.

Today’s questions will have a theme, and will focus on the memories we’ve collected when experiencing music, movies, and books. (If you don’t have any notable experiences in the following places, just talk about memories associated with those topics.)

[Listen] What is your most memorable concert experience?

Sadly, I’ve never been to a concert :(

[Watch] What is your most memorable experience in a movie theater?

I would have to say when I went to see Titanic.  There was a big, burly guy sitting in front of me and at first, when they Eric Braeden (he played John Jacob Astor) came on the screen, he shouted out, “It’s Victor!”  who is a character on my favorite soap The Young and The Restless.  Then at the end of the movie, the big, burly guy was bawling!

[Read] What is your most memorable experience in a library?

Recently, my husband and I went to the library I used to go to all of the time when I was younger and it was amazing to see all the changes they’ve made over the years.  We went down to what used to be the childrens room and they have been using it as a meeting room but it still had the old murals on the walls.

Tips & Tricks Tuesday

Feel free to use these on your blog. Please provide a link back to me :)
If you notice your some odd smells in your kitchen, you might try these solutions to take care of the problems.

1.  If you have a stinky garbage disposal, throw a few citrus peels (oranges, lemons, etc.) in it and grind away the smell.

2.  Soak a few cotton balls in vanilla extract and place in an open container in your fridge.  This will help with unwanted odors.

3.  Place a coffee filter with unused coffee grounds in your fridge to help absorb unpleasant smells.

Ugh, Tuesday

So far, this day has not been so great.  My sweet little girl has not been so sweet today because she has more teeth coming in and no matter what I do for her, it’s doesn’t help.  She finally went down for a nap so I am taking this opportunity to crab about things a little bit in hopes that if I get it out here, I will be happier when she wakes up :)   Then, I was trying to clean the tub and when I went to rinse it, the drain clogged.  I unscrewed the trap and checked to see if there was anything I could clear out of it and there wasn’t so I went to the basement to get the plunger.  When I got down there, I found the pipe that goes to the shower was leaking :(   Luckily, we have one of those old sinks down in the basement and it was leaking right into it and not all over the floor!  I did manage to unclog the tub after a few tries but we still need to figure out what was causing it to leak in the basement.  GRRRR!

I don’t feel like cooking much tonight so I think I’m going to make BLT’s for dinner.  I might make a pasta salad to go with it.

Not Much Going On

Today has been pretty uneventful so far.  Just a little laundry and dishes from lunch to do.  We’re getting a dish put up so we’ll have cable again.  We haven’t had it since we moved from Grand Rapids and even though it wasn’t too bad going without it, I do miss a couple of shows and Lloyd dearly misses his sports :P

I made a ton of cheese manicotti Saturday and was planning on having some for dinner tonight but I think it’s a little too warm to turn the oven on.  I’ll post the recipe on how to make the shells later.  I’m going to grill a ham glazed with pineapple juice and brown sugar instead.  I’m not sure what we’ll have with it yet.

Manic Monday

What is one thing that you would change about yourself if you could?

Physically, I have pretty much accepted my looks and body type because I’ve had it for 28 years now and I’ve gotten used to it.  Maybe I would give myself a better butt….it’s not so cute these days! :)

Name three exotic countries you would like to visit:

Brazil, Costa Rica, and Thailand

What do you think the secret to life is?

Don’t let the small things bother you, love the people who love you and know that no matter what’s going on, it will get better.

Great Weekend

This has been such a great weekend!  I wish it wasn’t over!  On Friday, my mom and Kathye had bacon cheeseburgers and loaded baked potato salad with us.  On Saturday, we went over to a friends house for a faux luau, complete with some very yummy jungle juice and today, Lloyd and I went to Hubbardston for a family reunion.  It was such a nice weekend!  The weather was nice, the food was nice, the drink was yummy and company was fantastic!  I hope everyone else as nice a weekend as we did!
