Long Day

I woke up not feeling well at all today.  I had a sore throat and just felt yucky in general.  I even canceled my visit with my aunt because I was afraid if I was coming down with something, she might catch it!  We’ll have to have her over another time.

I’ve been using these Disposable Wiping Cloths around the house lately and have found a few creative uses for them.  The video below is my take on one of those cheesy infomercials.  As you can see, I was obviously not put on this earth to be a t.v. star :)

Chilly!

I am loving these colder mornings!  I love going to bed at night with the windows open, breathing the fresh air, then waking up and opening everything up to get that cool air flowing.  I know we still have some warm days ahead but this has been really nice!  It gets me thinking about this fall/winter.  Last year, we talked about looking into those electric grills and fireplaces to see if we could save some money on heating this place.  I’m not sure how well they would work though because of the layout of the house.  I think I’ll ask around and see what people think of them.

Today my Aunt Dereka is coming for a visit.  I love seeing her and I’m pretty sure Lauryn has been wanting to see her too because she’s been running around saying, “Der-KA, Der-Ka!!!”  She even colored a picture for her last night :)

Lloyd took Cloz’r to the vet this morning for her shots and a check-up.  I’m waiting for them to get back so I can hear how it went.  I’m hoping every thing looks good and that she’s as healthy as we think she is!  This is the first time at a new vet’s office so I’m hoping everything goes well.

Coveralls

I recently received some coveralls and tonight, Lloyd and I put them to good use :)   They really do come in handy for a lot of things!  We just tried them in a few different ways but I could see me using them for all kinds of reasons.  Last night, I gave Cloz’r a bath and thought I should have been wearing Protective Apparel for that!  When that dog gets wet and shakes, it’s water and hair everywhere!  Or, when Lauryn was younger and trying new foods, I probably could have saved a few outfits if I’d been wearing it when she decided she didn’t like something and it went flying :)

10 Years!

Tomorrow marks the 10 year anniversary of Lloyd and I officially becoming a couple :)   I don’t think we’re going to do anything to celebrate but I might have to look at some mens ties as a gift because with the colder weather coming, he wears shirts and ties more and his ties are pretty old.  Sounds a little cliched right?  Getting him ties for an anniversary :)   Oh well, it’s something he needs.

I’ve been working on some crafty projects lately and I can’t wait to show them off here.  Unfortunately I can’t now because they are all for someone and since I’m not sure if she reads my blog or not, I don’t want to chance it that she’ll see them before she’s supposed to!  I am pretty proud of them though :)

Dream A Little Dream

I recently realized that Lloyd and I have not been on any kind of vacation since our honeymoon, almost six years ago!  I have been looking around and came across Outer Banks rentals.  These places are beautiful!  I can’t get over how big and gorgeous these houses are!  How nice it would be to rent one and take my little family there.  How nice it would be to stay in one, right on the beach and actually relax and get away from our every day stress.  Lauryn would absolutely love staying in one of those spacious homes, with plenty of room for her to run around and playing on the beach and in the ocean all day!  This isn’t an option for us right now but just looking at their site makes me dream a little dream about contacting Carolina Designs and setting it all up! :)

How To Make Money

I have been trying to find new ways to earn a little money from home lately.  So far, I haven’t come up with too many ideas yet.  I have considered becoming a Tastefully Simple consultant.  It’s not so much an at home job but it’s something I could do on the weekends, when Lloyd is home to take care of Lauryn.  I’m still deciding on that though.  The other day, a friend of mine mentioned that she’s thinking about going to medical assistant school.  I think, for her, that’s a great decision.  I think she is really suited for that type of job.

That’s what all this is about after all, isn’t it?
We’ll have so much fun and become lifelong friends….
The TT questions are brought to you by Berleen, the color of lightning bolts and the number 1.

A. If you see a tornado out your window, what do you do?  Get my daughter, my husband and my dog and get to the basement.
B. A celebrity knocks on your door saying that their tour bus/limo/pedal bike broke down (you pick the transportation)… who is it and what do you do to help them?  It’s Shemar Moore so OF COURSE I help him :)
C. Brett is back on the Vikings – do you really give a crap?  Nope.
D. What side of the bed do you think Bud sleeps on?  In the middle, with the twins on either side.
E. Cookie Monster eats vegetables now. Is this ok with you?  Fine by me…although a slimmer Cookie Monster just seems wrong.
F. All the TT’s get together for coffee… which state do we meet in?  Which ever state is cool with zero humidity…I’m in MI and this summer has been WAY too hot!
G. Is the town you live in famous for anything? Infamous for anything?  I don’t think the town itself is but a few weeks ago I saw a guy (Barry Watson) on American Greed.  He was a the valedictorian at the high school here in my home town (my mom was a grade or two below him) and he scammed a lot of people out of A LOT of money.  He killed himself so he wouldn’t have to deal with the consequences.
H. Coffee flavored bubble gum – would you?  No.
I. So Kimber lost her fight with a granite table…. what did you ever lose a fight with?  My dog.  :)   I trip over her all of the time!  She’s 85 lbs. and always right under my feet.  The last time a set of patio cushions broke my fall and kept me from getting pretty hurt.
J. Have you ever slept beneath the stars?  Yes.
K. School is starting up soon, or has for some, did you get a new pair of tennis shoes every year while you were in school?  Yes.  Tennis shoes and dress shoes.
L. What two flavors do you love that you would never want to taste at the same time?  Chocolate milk and salsa.
M. If you could shave a quote into a lions fur, what would it say?  Cari was here :)
N. Did you ever accidentally walk in on your parents doing the nasty? Did you ever purposely walk in on them?  Accidentally, yes.  Purposely, GROSS!

Cleaning House

I’ve been wanting to go through Lauryn’s massive amount of toys and pack up the things she doesn’t play with.  I’ve tried a few times and found myself saying, “She played with this a week ago, so that can’t go” and “she’s not interested in this right now but she might be soon.”  I was looking around the house today and realized it has been completely taken over by a bunch of useless toys!  Even her play yard has become one great big toy chest!  So I finally went through everything and kept only the things she plays with often, that’s still quite a few things, and put the rest in rubbermaid bins in the basement.  The house already looks a “little” less cluttered.

I also decided to clean all of my jewelry today. Not just the things I wear, but everything! I do love looking down and my wedding rings and seeing the diamonds sparkle. I only wear my wedding rings on my left hand and another ring from Lloyd on my right but I’ve been thinking about getting a couple more to wear. What’s in my jewelry box isn’t every day wear so I think I’m going to keep my eyes out for at least another ring for my right hand and maybe a thumb ring for my left.

Weekend In Review *LATE*

Friday ~ Lauryn and I picked mom up from work, dropped her off at her apartment, then went to the store to pick up a few groceries.  Mom came over a little bit later and had dinner with us.  We had bourbon glazed ham steak and baked potatoes on the grill.  Kathye came over for a short visit and then Lloyd and I hung out in the evening.

Saturday ~ Lloyd’s dad’s birthday is next weekend but his parents will be gone camping so we had them and his brother over to celebrate it early.  We had a nice visit, his aunt and uncle also stopped by for a little while and Kathye came over too.  We had burgers and New York strip steak on the grill, loaded baked potato salad, country style beans and the frozen strawberry dessert (see recipes).  Lloyd, his dad and his brother played a ton of horseshoes.  We visited with our neighbors for a little while before going in and getting Lauryn ready for bed.  The rest of the night was spent vegging out.

Sunday ~ We were all a little tired from the day before so we relaxed most of the day.  I ran to the store in the early evening and we had leftovers from Saturday for dinner.

Got My Truck Back!!! YAY!!!

After two and a half very long weeks without my truck, we finally got it back last night!  I was so excited and decided that Lauryn and I were going to have to get out, get lunch and so some shopping!  We went to Big Boy for lunch, our first sit down meal with just the two of us, and it went really well.  She sat in the booth next to me (in a booster seat) and we colored and talked to an older woman who was sitting across from us.  Towards the end of lunch, Lauryn gagged a little on her food and a minute later she threw up all over the place!  Poor girl!  She started crying and putting her head on my shoulder.  I was trying to console her and clean up the mess.  We had the best waitress!  She came right over and brought tons of napkins and wet naps and kept asking if there was anything she could do.  As we were leaving, Lauryn seemed to be feeling fine so we stopped in to the dollar store right behind the restaurant.  At first I wasn’t sure if that was a good idea but since she was feeling good and none of the mess got on either of us, I figured we’d give it a try.  We picked up a few things and then went to Wal-Mart.  By then, Lauryn was definitely feel well because she was talking up a storm, to me and everyone we passed, so we picked up a few things there as well.  I got her her first tricycle.  It’s a pink and purple Radio Flyer and it’s adorable!  She’s been trying to ride it since we got home.  Other than the minor incident at the Big Boy’s, we had a nice day and it felt great having my truck back!
